Production Superintendent- Plywood

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Department Superintendent to lead a wood products production department at our plywood mill in Taylorsville, MS. This role focuses on maintaining an injury-free and incident-free continuous manufacturing environment, aligned with Georgia-Pacific's management philosophy and framework, while optimizing constraining processes and machine centers.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate team development and growth through effective communication and performance evaluations.
• Prioritize work orders to address machine center functionality and optimize equipment availability.
• Ensure areas operate effectively and efficiently, meeting or exceeding benchmarks and milestones.
• Utilize work processes to manage and facilitate asset health through preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PDM).
• Build employee commitment and ownership, holding personnel accountable for meeting expectations.
• Review and evaluate personnel performance to support team developmental growth.
• Motivate and encourage the team to positively contribute to capturing long-term value for the facility.
• Drive safety excellence through personnel involvement, ownership, and accountability.
• Proactively identify hazards and implement mitigating strategies to improve safety capacity.
• Facilitate resolution of complex or chronic issues preventing equipment design.
• Own data entry and accuracy for compiling departmental reports.

Requirements

• Supervisory or management experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility or a related industrial/operations environment.
• Experience analyzing data to identify and eliminate waste, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and other PC-based operations and maintenance software.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Five (5) or more years of supervisory or management experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as SAP, MP2, or ActivePlant.
• Continuous improvement experience and/or education.
• Knowledge of equipment servicing, planning/scheduling, supply chain management, mechanical maintenance, plant engineering, quality, and processes and equipment.
