About the role

This 2nd Shift Production Superintendent oversees efficient production of quality products through effective communication with managers, team members, and all other departments within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure attainment of Facility Food Safety Standards and production of products that meet or exceed customer and product specifications
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, HACCP, and GMPs
  • Attain high scores on quality audits and reduce customer complaints
  • Support timely and cost-effective manufacture of products through increased efficiency, quality standards, and company objectives
  • Keep current with all new labor laws including HR, as well as governmental regulations, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Principles or "Problem Solving & Lessons Learned" procedures to ensure continual growth
  • Provide assistance to Research & Development (R&D) in the processing of new products
  • Develop proper attitudes toward safety and health in self and those supervised; promote operations performed with utmost regard for safety and health of all personnel
  • Ensure facility and equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and sanitized daily to meet HLF and governmental Food Safety standards
  • Train production employees in cost-effective and safe production methods and performance
  • Resolve production problems and complexities; act as intermediary for the Manufacturing Manager on issues that need not go to that level
  • Closely review performance, analyze reports, downtime, labor and material usage with the Manager, Manufacturing

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree in a related technical field
  • 3 to 5 years of leadership experience with a background in consumable production procedures and supervision
  • Basic knowledge of cuttings and processing specifications
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of scheduling procedures and costing of products
  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities and follow up with projects to completion
  • Good communication and mathematical skills; good rapport with coworkers and subordinates
  • Self-motivated with sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly collaborative; engages other leaders and team members to resolve challenges together
  • Passion for product quality, food safety, and standards
  • Commitment to driving a focus on health and safety practices everyday

Pay

The typical hiring range is from $85,000 - $96,000, offered based on factors including geographical market location, job grading practices, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Employees may be eligible to participate in an annual short-term incentive program subject to program eligibility requirements.

Working conditions

Office Environment: The noise level is moderately quiet.

Plant Environment: Employee will be exposed to loud noise, food grade dust and odors, moving and vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, and electricity. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke, and odors. Flexibility of work hours required. Ability to work on feet for extended periods if needed.

Physical requirements

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, listen, and reach with hands and arms
  • Required to use hands to handle, operate, and feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to off-site meetings
  • Visual acuity sufficient to operate a motor vehicle and digital camera, as well as other office and position equipment
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to hear and speak clearly to communicate with clients, coworkers, employees, and vendors
