Production Specialist

About the role

JELD-WEN is a global leader in designing, manufacturing, and distributing high-performance interior and exterior doors, windows, and related building products. This Production Specialist position supports the manufacturing process, ensuring that products meet customer requirements and are packaged correctly.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Read and understand customer requirements from job tickets.
• Gather and label materials needed for production.
• Ensure all door accessories are in place before packaging.
• Understand and visually inspect materials for each order.
• Package products according to requested specifications.
• Communicate with management about equipment needs and maintenance.
• Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment.
• Operate machines accurately to meet production schedules.
• Assemble door accessories as part of the production process.

Builder

• Use hands to straighten stacks on the builder lift.
• Clean grating and headboard of excess glue.
• Inspect glue coverage on each lift.
• Build doors according to work instructions.
• Complete a pace of 16 minutes per door, building every 26 seconds.
• Follow production schedules and batch card details.
• Show proficiency in door internal components and assembly.
• Know skin types and sizes to customer specifications.
• Perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Operate and shut down machinery.

Assembler

• Use tools and automated equipment to assemble products.
• Communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing.
• Retrieve and deliver parts as instructed.
• Work closely with supervisors to troubleshoot issues.
• Cross-train in multiple departments.

Finisher

• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions.
• Clean or repair machines and equipment.
• Perform basic arithmetic operations.
• Shut down, disassemble, and clean equipment.
• Inspect and maintain equipment.

Quick/Extensive Repair

• Accurately identify and diagnose product failures.
• Use a table saw.
• Inspect JELD-WEN door products for damage.
• Complete repairs based on company policy.
• Report defective materials or questionable conditions.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and organize work areas.
• Lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools.
• Previous experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Clear and precise communication skills.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
• Ability to be trained in basic processes and equipment.

Physical Demands

• Sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to fumes, cleaning solutions, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and loud noises.
