Production Shift Lead **Night shift 12 Hours**

About the Role

The Production Shift Leader is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily operations of a production shift to ensure efficiency, quality, safety, and compliance with company policies. This role involves leading a team of production workers, monitoring workflow, troubleshooting issues, and serving as a communication link between production staff and management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise production employees on the assigned shift to ensure timely and efficient operation.
• Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Coordinate shift activities to meet daily production goals.
• Train, coach, and evaluate team members to improve performance and foster a culture of accountability.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of shift activities, production output, downtime, and safety incidents.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance, quality, and logistics departments to minimize disruptions.
• Ensure proper use and care of equipment, tools, and materials.
• Promote a safe and organized work environment by enforcing company policies and procedures.
• Act as the first point of contact for shift-related issues and escalate matters to management as necessary.
• Train, guide, and assist associates in the successful execution of their roles.
• Coordinate training of new associates by assigning a qualified trainer and monitoring timely completion and documentation of the training program.
• Work with Quality Assurance to ensure every associate in the department is “Quality Certified” and completes job-related training.
• Generate improvement ideas and embrace improvement projects to better the business.
• Lead KAIZEN events to meet safety, quality, or productivity goals.
• Conduct quarterly safety and scrap projects.
• Evaluate department equipment routinely and work with maintenance to improve or repair equipment in the CMMS program to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Arrive prior to the scheduled shift to review production schedules, staffing issues, and touch base with the prior shift leader for continuity.
• Sustain and audit core disciplines, holding associates accountable for compliance with quality control, productivity, safety, housekeeping, scrap data input, and communication expectations.
• Ensure associates work proactively with a sense of urgency using set-up/start-up procedures for systematic and timely equipment start-ups.
• Drive strict compliance with all quality control procedures to ensure product is made "First Time Right" and maintain consistency by continuously monitoring the process.
• Support and assist the shift supervisor with progressive disciplinary procedures as required.
• Act as a backup for direct reports for critical activities required to serve customers.
• Ensure all responsibilities and functions are performed in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
• Participate in quality programs and stay aware of changes and standards within the systems.
• Perform other duties assigned as part of the essential functions of the position.
• Encourage all employees to engage in safe working behaviors.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a supervisory, management, or leadership position in a production environment.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to complete required paperwork and system inputs accurately.
• Proficiency in Windows computing programs and business operating systems.
• Able to read and understand job tickets and provide verbal direction to complete procedures.
• Capable of performing mathematical calculations and using tape measures and micrometers.
• Flexibility in work assignments and priorities to address dynamic customer and production needs.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience with effective teams, project management, and continuous improvement methods strongly preferred.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift and handle items up to 75 pounds.
• Role is a "player-coach" position, requiring willingness to pitch in and lead by example.
• Capable of standing for the duration of a work shift (less breaks and lunch).
• Must be capable and willing to work in excess of a normal workweek as production demands dictate.
• Able to distinguish and ensure product quality in a fast-paced production environment.
• Must identify, prioritize, and meet multiple expectations for areas of responsibility.
• Physical dexterity to bend, stand, flex, and reach as required by the position.
• Must satisfactorily differentiate color to support efficient press set-ups and print quality.
• Capable of understanding film testing methods and department quality procedures.

Pay

$28–32 an hour (+1.50 Night Shift Differential)

Schedule

• 12-hour night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 3/2 rotating schedule
