About the role

API Heat Transfer is seeking a highly organized and results-driven Production Planner / Scheduler to support our STG business unit. This position is responsible for contract scheduling, issuing work orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, monitoring contract progress, reviewing raw material requirements, managing sales order commitments, resolving MRP exceptions, and handling customer expedites.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Production Supervisors to schedule and maintain a consistent flow of work through production, maximizing throughput and on-time delivery performance.
  • Issue and manage work orders based on material availability, labor resources, and plant capacity.
  • Review and manage production schedules to align manufacturing activities with customer requirements.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by reviewing daily shortage reports and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Monitor contract progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet delivery commitments.
  • Support department management by communicating departmental objectives, performance metrics, and results.
  • Communicate inventory, scheduling, and technical issues to Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations teams.
  • Assist with daily operational oversight when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Technical Studies, or a related field; equivalent experience and training will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning and inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing an MRP system.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, order flow, and production scheduling.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working with MRP systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting functions.
  • Experience using Gantt charts and scheduling tools.
  • Experience in inventory control, materials planning, and capacity planning.

  • Proactive identification and resolution of production and material issues.
  • Strong communication across departments to minimize disruptions.
  • Consistent achievement of inventory accuracy and on-time delivery objectives.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work primarily in an office environment.
  • Ability to effectively use a computer and associated equipment for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including phones, printers, copiers, and filing systems.
  • Ability to occasionally enter the manufacturing environment to support production planning activities.
