About the role
The Production Scheduler develops, maintains, and executes the master production schedule to support on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and alignment with customer demand. This role serves as a critical link between Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain, ensuring production plans are accurate, achievable, and responsive to changing business needs. The Production Scheduler manages demand signals, material availability, and production capacity to drive execution across manufacturing areas including saw, weld, machine shop, and assembly. This position supports SAP/MRP accuracy, inventory optimization, and overall production performance.
Reports to the Director of Plant Operations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates closely with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Material Control, Quality, and Sales to ensure all customer expectations are met while optimizing resources.
- Plans and coordinates production schedules for saw, weld, machine shop, and assembly.
- Maintains master production schedule to minimize changes while ensuring on-time delivery goals and raw materials requirements are met.
- Monitors sales forecast and production forecast to ensure demand is reflected in MRP.
- Schedules outside processing and communicates with outside supply vendors to ensure accurate and timely delivery of orders.
- Provides input to management regarding scheduling problems, material shortages, design changes, and backlogs.
- Provides weekly reporting on production order status and completion to sales and service.
- Actively participates in analyzing and maintaining appropriate inventory levels to meet schedule requirements.
- Works with Operations to develop potential solutions to improve production performance.
- Leads and/or represents supply chain and operations on functional sub-teams where appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5+ years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred).
- Strong understanding of production workflows, capacity planning, and material flow.
