Production Planner/Scheduler

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage production schedules for assigned production areas within a site ensuring alignment with customer orders, forecast demand, and production capacity.
  • Ensure consistency in production planning processes, accurate ERP scheduling transactions, and timely adjustments to plans as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the Master Scheduler, Procurement and Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) team to ensure alignment between overall demand and department production schedules.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, while minimizing production downtime and bottlenecks.
  • Monitor and adjust production plans in response to changes in customer demand, material availability, or capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate with materials and procurement teams to ensure timely material availability for production.
  • Track and report on key production planning metrics, such as on-time delivery, schedule attainment, schedule adherence, capacity and production efficiency.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate production risks, such as resource constraints, machine availability, or material shortages.
  • Use our ERP system and other software tools to manage scheduling processes and ensure accurate, real-time data is available for decision-making.
  • Communicate regularly with site production managers/supervisors, operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on production priorities and timelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling in a manufacturing environment, preferably in industrial equipment or similar industries.
  • Strong understanding ERP systems and production scheduling software. Epicor a plus.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments and with different levels of the organization.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) processes.
  • Ability to balance long-term planning with short-term problem-solving.
  • Proven experience using material requirements planning (MRP) and capacity planning.
  • APICS Certification is a plus.
