About the role
Multivac, a leading worldwide provider of industrial packaging and processing solutions, is seeking an experienced Production Planner in Kansas City.
Responsibilities
- Create routings and process planned production orders to satisfy demand for various production lines including New Machine, Remanufacturing, Chamber production, CNC Machine, Manual Machining, and Gasket centers.
- Advise management on the status of Work In Progress (WIP), material availability, and potential scheduling conflicts to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
- Coordinate with Machine Shop programmers, purchasing, engineering, sales, service, parts, and shipping departments to communicate any issues, concerns, or problems that could compromise scheduled due dates or commitments.
- Perform the "make or buy" decision on all new materials.
- Review orders from engineering and assign routings to all in-house produced components and assemblies.
- Create and manage SAP production floor work orders to ensure work center schedule accuracy, expediting rush orders as needed, and creating a rush order report.
- Convert project-related production orders from planned status to created based on available capacity in respective work centers.
- Analyze new orders with respect to capacity planning and material availability based on the Master Schedule and present conflict resolution when necessary.
- Cost quote within SAP for Manufacturing, engineering, and parts sales; using a created Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing.
- Determine cost-effectiveness of production versus purchasing on all sourcing changes to in-house production.
- Ensure all work orders for shop floor activities are in the proper statuses and create standard reports on production order processing accuracy per department.
- Examine BOMs of new orders to determine if material sourcing needs to be changed or updated to follow the Manufacturing Strategic Plan.
- Provide interdepartmental feedback involving Material Requirements Planning (MRP), material availability, bills of materials, item master data, lead times, costing, units of measure, routings, etc.
- Provide input into the item master, routing, and work center files. Create BOM and labor standards to provide Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Gather information to formulate standard pricing of shop activities. Provide automated reporting methods validating BOM and labor standards.
- Plan for the highest sustainable rate of output within each product group, provide available capacity and "open slot" reporting for customer sales.
- Update data to reflect the changing standard in Manufacturing via the item master.
- Learn and understand Manufacturing Purchasing and be a backup when required.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related discipline and one year related experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory, project management, contact management, and manufacturing software.
- Knowledge of SAP and Qlikview preferred.
- Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.
- APICS certification or equivalent body of knowledge associated with manufacturing and production activities preferred.
