About the role
The Production Planner at Hubbell's Cromwell, CT location is responsible for supporting the master production schedule, optimizing inventory, expediting deliveries, clarifying specifications, and planning/scheduling to meet customer requirements. This role requires close collaboration with manufacturing to establish production planning and procurement schedules.
Responsibilities
- Follow up on back orders of manufactured and procured materials, expedite delivery of orders, make special arrangements for delivery as needed, and communicate expected delivery dates and potential shortages.
- Plan the manufacture of all products through the production facility in accordance with assembly procedures and standard times.
- Release production orders in the required time frame.
- Ensure planning documents are processed in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Update SAP data as needed and work with vendor and/or accounting to reconcile PO discrepancies.
- Have knowledge of inventory procedures in establishing and maintaining reorder points, reorder quantities, and lead-times.
- Recommend procedures to improve quality and reduce costs, as well as stay informed of new developments in related commodities.
- Share updates with the Materials department.
- Support plant-wide Safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience in production planning and scheduling.
- Knowledge of a variety of commodities.
- SAP or similar ERP system experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good time management and multi-tasking skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in production planning or related field.
