About the Role

This position is for a Production Planner responsible for production planning and control activities for assigned products/product lines. The Production Planner will work independently with limited supervision once training is complete, acting on ERP exceptions, internal business information, and guidance from supervisors and manufacturing teams. The role involves using current inventory levels and product lead-times to support customer demand while meeting company and customer targets.

Responsibilities

  • Validate and act on MPS/MRP results through to releasing work orders to the manufacturing floor.
  • Monitor work order activity to ensure timely hand-offs between production levels.
  • Actively evaluate, mitigate, and communicate delays or supply risks to managers and master scheduling.
  • Participate in detailed production scheduling for assigned products and related operations.
  • Perform escalated expediting when required to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Proactively interact and communicate with internal partners, including manufacturing, logistics, master scheduling, quality, and program management.
  • Work with supply chain (procurement) to monitor delivery status of in-bound purchased materials and components affecting planned production.
  • Actively participate as a department representative in the event of a non-conformance (NCR) logged on assigned products/product lines.
  • Participate in Sales Order Kick-Off (SOKO) events with master scheduling and program management to support new and/or existing customer contracts.
  • Monitor, initiate change requests for SAP master data, and ensure accurate system signals.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized processes and procedures (SJI) for the production planning and control team.
  • Track metrics on assigned activities to drive results and continuous improvements in department activity.
  • Perform other assigned activities, including participation in deep dive, quality, operations, and manufacturing-driven process events.
  • Provide backup to other members of the production planning and control team with cross-training across all products/product lines.

Requirements

  • University degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree.
  • Relevant experience in production planning and control work.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to both external and internal customers.
  • Ability to independently and creatively problem-solve across production planning and manufacturing-related issues.
  • Ability to make independent decisions on product issues while knowing when to escalate to supervisors or materials management.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret SOPs, technical documents, instructions, and reports.
  • Strong strategic, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to download and analyze ERP data using Excel-based tools (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with detailed production scheduling.
  • 3+ years of work experience in an ERP environment, preferably SAP.
  • Experience in process and/or discrete production environments with knowledge of production planning and control.
  • Experience evaluating ERP master data, including bills of materials, routers, and data sets affecting production planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $75,800 – $144,200 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
