Production Operator - Night Shift
About the role
Charter Steel is hiring for two positions in their Saukville, WI facility. The first position is a Billet Conditioner in the Melting Department, working 12-hour shifts rotating through different positions. The second position is a Finishing Operator in the Rolling Mill, also working 12-hour shifts rotating through several positions.
Responsibilities
- Remove kerf from billets using power tools
- Apply ID tags and mark billets with chalk using a welding torch
- Place chains and spacer bars between billets
- Perform quality inspections
- Operate an overhead crane
- Frequent walking, standing, push/pull, and lifting up to 35 lbs
- Operate conveyors & compactor
- Trim front and back of coils
- Avoid roll changes and assist with mill size changes
- Operate a forklift
- Frequent walking, standing, push/pull, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Occasionally up to 75 lbs
Requirements
A high school diploma or GED (Charter Steel can help through their FREE GEDWorks program)
Comfortable with basic math (like counting and simple calculations)
Team player who works well and communicates with others
Background in manufacturing or industrial production, assembly, warehouse, welding, construction, metals, steel, or other hands-on jobs
Forklift & Overhead Crane experience is a plus!

Pay
- Billet Conditioner: $26.50/hr
- Finishing Operator: $26.50/hr
Schedule
- 12 hour shifts on a 5-2-2-5 schedule
- Every other weekend off
