Job Summary

The Production Operator I is an entry-level role within our manufacturing department. Key responsibilities include executing manufacturing procedures and tasks on various manufacturing equipment, adhering to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP guidelines, and upholding environmental, health, and safety standards.

About the Role

This position works under constant supervision for the first 12 months. Reporting relationships indicate no direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Operate assigned manufacturing equipment, including shutdown/start-up following established procedures.
  • Movement and placement of required materials for manufacturing to ensure readiness.
  • Ensuring all manufacturing components match set-up requirements.
  • Performing one or more manufacturing functions as per batch record instructions, such as coating, compression, encapsulation, granulation/blending, soft gel.
  • Completing equipment cleaning according to machine requirements and SOPs.
  • Executing total changeovers as needed.
  • Performing basic mechanical functions including light troubleshooting, correcting simple machine malfunctions, and identifying routine problems.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary workplace.
  • Offering suggestions to superiors and following up on process improvements related to safety, compliance, cost, and productivity.
  • Properly documenting activities in batch records, forms, and other GMP documents.
  • Identifying and reporting machine or manual deviations to supervisors or designees.
  • Training new Level Operators after 1 year of experience and satisfactory performance.
  • Following all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and guidelines.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions, near misses, and/or injuries in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary workplace.
  • Operating manufacturing equipment safely while following applicable safety guidelines.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic mechanical abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Completion of departmental SOP, GMP, and any required qualifications.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous manufacturing experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic mechanical abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Completion of departmental SOP, GMP, and any required qualifications.
  • Ability to work in a team.

Physical Demands/Factors

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands; talk; and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Pay and Benefits

  • Cash Compensation: $22.30 per hour.
