About the role
The Production Operator position involves rotating through various roles within the Crown Health Care Laundry plant, including Soil and Clean operations. Pay rates and work schedules are based on the area assigned.
Responsibilities
- Sort returned, soiled linen into appropriate classifications for washing.
- Operate various production equipment to meet customer expectations.
- Maintain safety standards and adhere to quality standards.
- Rotate through different positions within the plant as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Ability to learn and operate various production equipment.
- High School Education or GED preferred.
Soil Operations
- Open and sort returned, soiled linen into appropriate classifications.
- Move empty carts to the cleaning area.
- Work as part of a team to ensure linens are sorted safely, quickly, and accurately.
- Secure linen carts and stack them according to standards.
- Remove items from the conveyor and report malfunctions to maintenance.
- Make quality decisions regarding the finishing of linens and removal of non-Crown products.
Clean Operations
- Learn and operate various equipment and positions within the Clean Production area.
- Secure linen carts and stack them according to standards.
- Remove items from the Folder machine, count and stack them per standards.
- Push full baskets to the next staging area.
- Adhere to quality standards and safety standards.
- Make quality decisions regarding the finishing of linens and removal of non-Crown products.
- Identify and remove items that are stuck or malfunctioning in the machine.
- Run clean processed linen through the Ironer machine.
- Decide when to call for maintenance if an item is stuck or the machine is not functioning properly.
Hand Folder
- Take items from the washer or Presser and hand fold, stack, and place them on the appropriate cart or belt.
- Make quality decisions regarding the finishing of linens and removal of non-Crown products.
- Identify and remove items that are stuck or malfunctioning in the machine.
Ironer
- Bend down and lift flat sheets, blankets, and pillowcases from the platform.
- Loosen linens to ensure safe handling before feeding them into the ironer.
- Feed linen into the spreader, via spreader clips or a spreader arm.
- Decide when to call for maintenance if an item is stuck or the machine is not functioning properly.
Shipping Clerk
- Fill finished carts of clean, processed linen and prepare them for shipment.
- Weigh and record the information about the carts.
- Collect finished carts and roll them to the weighing area.
- Pull the weighed cart off the scale and push the next cart onto the scale.
- Enter the proper information into the Shipping Software and load the delivery truck.
- May fill in for other positions as required.
