Responsibilities
- Performs various functions associated with the fabrication of contact lenses using appropriate machines and equipment.
- Ensures the cleanliness and organization of work areas using 5S procedures.
- Operates specialized equipment necessary for specific product groups (e.g., toric generator lathing and more sophisticated metrology equipment).
- Participates on Lean and Six Sigma teams.
- Assists coordinators and technicians in managing workflow.
- Works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks, including mandatory overtime.
- Performs other duties as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
- Good communication skills – verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language.
- Demonstrates the potential to lead a team as well as the desire for personal and professional continuous improvement.
- Excellent understanding of and compliance with all SOP’s, regulatory requirements, and cGMP’s.
- Full understanding of Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and the consequences of not following them.
- Reads and understands Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Fulfills safety and equipment maintenance procedures.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with medical device manufacturing and/or packaging in an FDA compliant or similar regulated environment preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associates degree preferred.
