About the role

The Production Operations (ProdOps) Engineer will operate and maintain a mission-critical cloud-based system in multiple environments, ensuring 24/7 availability for national security use-cases. This role supports a data management and analytics project powering machine learning via a large-scale data pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the state of services and systems globally, resolving outages and problems as they arise.
  • Deploy the latest code and security updates to cloud-based systems.
  • Make system changes to ensure configurations work in clustered deployment environments.
  • Provide recommendations and pathways for scaling system components (processing, storage, etc.).
  • Support engineering teams in benchmarking system components.
  • Work across all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) with flexibility to support 24/7 operations, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain a CI Poly and Privileged User Access (PUA) on customer systems.
  • US citizenship (required for security clearance).
  • Willingness to work onsite in a SCIF up to 5 days per week, including extended hours as needed.
  • Experience working in classified environments with awareness of technical limitations.
  • Familiarity with accreditation and security requirements, preferably with RMF process experience.
  • Experience operating and maintaining systems in Linux-based environments.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, OpenShift, or Kubernetes) and provisioning tools (Helm, AWS CloudFormation).
  • Active Security+ or CISSP certification, plus one technical certification (e.g., CKAD, AWS).

Skills

  • Required: Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving in mission-driven teams.
  • Preferred: Configuration management (Ansible, Salt Stack), CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab CI), Python/bash scripting, S3-compliant data stores, document storage (Elasticsearch, Mongo), streaming data (Kafka, NiFi, RabbitMQ), and designing scalable cloud-native systems.
