Summary

Responsible for production, coordination, quality control, workforce management, inspections and safety on designated structural jobs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain service data such as time frames, quantities and specifications of work packages and scheduled completion dates for multiple projects
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for meeting schedule dates and work plateaus
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates work activities to ensure production and quality of jobs meet specifications
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Inspects jobs and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards
  • Interprets company policies to supervisors/employees and enforces safety regulations
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data
  • Interacts with shipyard management and their employees to ensure efficient and smooth procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Conduct Performance evaluations, providing recommendations for promotion and salary adjustments
  • Handles or assists with disciplinary and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

Education And Experience

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • 10+ years in a shipyard production environment in US Navy repair or new construction shipyards preferred
  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM, and/or comparable project management certifications preferred
  • OSHA-10 (Company May Provide)

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Some work performed in an office environment
  • Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
  • Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • May be required to wear a respirator
  • Travel may be required
