We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and optimize our manufacturing operations in a chemical and process manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and supervise daily production activities to meet volume, quality and schedule targets.
- Develop and maintain production schedules and resource plans to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of materials and equipment.
- Lead, coach and develop production supervisors and front-line employees to create a high-performance, safety-first culture.
- Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices and Six Sigma problem-solving methodologies to reduce waste, improve throughput and lower costs.
- Monitor production KPIs (OEE, yield, scrap, downtime) and prepare regular performance reports for senior management.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, quality, supply chain and R&D to resolve production issues and support process improvements.
- Manage production budgets, labor planning and cost control initiatives.
- Oversee inventory control, material handling and coordination with procurement to avoid production interruptions.
- Drive continuous improvement projects, including root cause analysis, process optimization and pilot implementations for new manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or production management, preferably within the chemical or process industries.
- Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, process safety, quality systems and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing supervisors and production teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP) and familiarity with production planning and scheduling tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including structured problem solving (DMAIC) and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Experience managing budgets, production metrics and cost improvement initiatives.
