Production Manager for Dance & Music
About the Role
The Production Manager for Dance and Music provides production management, administrative support, and operational support for the Dance and Music programs within the College of the Arts. This position oversees the planning and execution of performances, concerts, recitals, festivals, guest artist residencies, and special events while supporting departmental operations, financial processes, accreditation documentation, and faculty needs. The role ensures efficient administration and production functions in alignment with the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD) and the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Through coordination of resources, schedules, communications, and event logistics, the Production Manager contributes to a high-quality educational and artistic experience that supports Palm Beach Atlantic University's mission.
Responsibilities
Event Production and Coordination
- Manages the production of Dance and Music events, concerts, and productions, overseeing all logistical aspects from planning to execution.
- Attends and leads production meetings for both Dance and Music departments to ensure clear communication and coordination.
- Coordinates guest artist and clinician travel and housing for Dance and Music events, including accommodations and transportation logistics.
- Produces and coordinates the movement of production equipment to and from off-site venues, handling transportation, set-up, and teardown.
- Researches, manages, and coordinates the procurement of equipment for productions, whether through purchase or rental.
- Designs and produces performance programs for all Dance and Music recitals, concerts, and events.
- Coordinates and manages participation in competitions and festivals, ensuring effective representation and execution.
- Oversees financial operations related to productions, including processing purchase orders, invoices, and check requisitions.
Department Chair Support and Administrative
- Provides comprehensive support to the Chairs of Dance and Music, including calendar management, travel coordination, and data collection for annual reports required by NASM and NASD.
- Maintains detailed academic records for students, including jury forms, recital programs, proficiency exams, and documentation for accreditation.
- Coordinates faculty and student participation in external events, such as conferences and competitions, including travel and logistics.
- Assists with student registration and enrollment corrections each semester.
- Supports daily departmental operations by ensuring the availability of supplies, resources, and equipment.
Financial Operations and Documentation
- Ensures timely and accurate processing of financial documents, including Visa statements and receipts.
- Assists with budgeting, financial planning, and preparation of financial reports for auditing purposes.
Student and Faculty Support
- Serves as a liaison between the Dance and Music departments and other university offices, facilitating communication among faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
- Maintains and updates academic files for all students, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Supports recruitment efforts by preparing materials for faculty trips to conferences such as TMEA, Midwest Clinic, and Project Dance.
Resource and Facilities Management
- Collaborates with the Events and Audition Coordinator to schedule department facilities, including classrooms, practice rooms, and performance venues.
- Manages and tracks production equipment and supplies, ensuring proper storage, maintenance, and return after use.
- Coordinates the transport of production equipment for off-site events, overseeing logistics for instruments, materials, and supplies.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in music or dance administration, arts management, or performing arts management required.
- Music or Dance Education, Arts Management in a Higher Education Setting, and Event Production/Coordination in Performing Arts preferred.
Experience
- 1+ years in a higher education setting or event production/coordination in performing arts, or equivalent experience.
