Production Manager
Job Description
The POSITION SUMMARY outlines the Production Manager's role supporting the New World Symphony (NWS) / New World Center (NWC), Technical Director, and Vice President, Program Operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as 'Supervisor on Duty' and oversees full- and part-time Production Technicians and any contract labor for NWS-related activities
- Closely works with the Technical Director and Vice President, Program Operations to manage logistical and technical requirements
- Plans and manages production of third-party activities and acts as liaison to third-party organizations
- Schedules and supervises full-time and part-time Production Technicians and outside contract labor
- Hires and trains full-time and part-time Production Technicians
- Serves as Stage Manager for NWS-related and third-party activities
- Oversees stage setup and changes during rehearsals and concerts
- Assists in maintaining inventory and managing stage- and equipment-related budgets
- Ensures adherence to safety procedures and addresses safety issues
- Participates in departmental and other production meetings
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Production or related field
- Experience: Minimum of three years of theatrical production experience, preferably at music school, orchestra or other performing arts organization
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Management, supervisory and organizational skills
- Effective communication and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of production systems and OSHA safety standards
- Passion for NWS mission and values
- Ability to work flexible hours
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting and moving up to 50 pounds
- Exerting various types of physical exertion
