Production Responsibilities
The Production Manager ensures the achievement of all plant safety objectives and protocols. They maintain a clean plant floor and eliminate safety hazards. They review accidents and offer recommendations for prevention.
Team Management
Oversees the recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of staff. Adheres to all plant-wide OSHA regulations and promptly reports any concerns. Cultivates a cohesive team environment to enhance collaborative goal achievement.
Supervision and Evaluation
- Determines necessary resources needed to meet targeted results, while also meeting anticipated labor cost projections.
- Supervises and evaluates performance of production personnel (e.g. operators, quality inspectors, assemblers).
Workflow and Process Improvement
- Develops workflow processes and procedures to improve efficiency without compromising safety or product quality.
- Evaluates machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
Operational Support
- Analyzes production, maintenance, and malfunction records to identify problems and recommend solutions for enhancing performance.
- Collaborates with cross-functional or operational team to understand their present and future product requirements, assisting in developing ideas, cost projections, and timetables for executing overall operational improvements.
Production Line Management
- Plans, prioritizes, and manages production line maintenance or downtimes to reduce disturbances to manufacturing timetables.
Additional Duties
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED, or an additional 2 – 4 years of experience in lieu of education
- 8 – 10 years of progressive experience leading a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Intermediate experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume work environment
- Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all employee levels including executive management
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Key Competencies
- Inter-Relationships: Consistent interaction with hourly production/distribution team members, senior management, and office personnel. Provides direction to production line workers and manages employee issues, schedules, etc. May supervise one or more departments.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work Environment: This position works in a manufacturing work setting. Frequently exposed to seasonal temperatures of excessive cold or heat. Work environment is often loud, dusty and/or dirty due to the materials required for production. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for those working in chemical plant.
