Production Manager

About the role

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests, and manufactures engines ranging from 0.5 to 18L, used in various applications such as marine, petroleum, industrial, electric generators, and locomotives. Caterpillar's strategy includes sustainability, and IPSD is involved in developing green energy solutions.

Responsibilities

• Create reports and records of production processes, tool issues, performance, and inventory; share them with managers and suggest improvements to safety, productivity, and quality.
• Maintain and update documentation related to operating procedures, safety, and quality standards; ensure all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
• Supervise and direct the daily activities of production line workers, assign tasks, coordinate between different teams, ensure their safety, and monitor their performance.
• Train new hires, manage scheduling and work conflicts, monitor safety, and promote internal communication to foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Track, monitor, and improve inefficiencies and downtime at machining constraints; provide leadership and guidance for the Safety Driven strategy.

Requirements

• Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques; ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
• Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods; ability to maintain focus on continuous improvement of processes, products, and services.
• Talent Management: Knowledge of human resources and talent management processes; ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward employees at the workplace.
• Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
• Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment, and site.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in a production management role.
• Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay and Schedule

Pay Range: $89,210.00 - $133,810.00
Shift Schedule: Weekend Shift, 6:00am – 6:30pm CST.
Additional Information: 7% Shift Premium; Overtime expectation up to 25%.
