About the role
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Production Manager to lead and scale our manufacturing operations at our Torrance, CA facility.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules across all assembly lines (cable assembly, shelf builds, I/O panel assembly); ensure customer delivery commitments are met.
- Translate customer orders and demand forecasts into actionable production plans; allocate labor, equipment, and materials to meet output targets.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and scheduling conflicts to minimize cycle time and maximize throughput.
- Oversee new product introductions (NPI) and line setup activities, ensuring readiness for production launch including training, tooling, and work instruction availability.
- Be available for overtime support as required to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Directly manage and develop Production Leads and a broader team of assembly technicians (total team size 10–25+ depending on production volume).
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s, provide coaching, and deliver formal performance evaluations.
- Drive accountability for attendance, workmanship quality, and adherence to safety and company policies.
- Build a motivated, high-performing culture through goal setting, recognition, transparent communication, and fair and consistent people management.
- Partner with HR on hiring decisions, performance management, corrective actions, and workforce planning.
- Ensure full compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality management system requirements across all production activities.
- Own production-level CAPA processes: lead root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and verify effectiveness in partnership with the Quality team.
- Maintain accurate and complete production records including work orders, inspection results, traceability documentation, and labor tracking.
- Serve as the primary manufacturing point of contact for Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and senior leadership; represent production in cross-functional meetings and escalations.
- Partner with Engineering on process deviations, design-for-manufacturability improvements, and new product readiness.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain to address material shortages, supplier quality issues, and inventory alignment with production needs.
- Report production performance metrics (output, efficiency, quality, OTD) to the Operations Manager and executive leadership on a regular cadence.
- Maintain oversight of all production equipment, tools, and test stations; ensure proper calibration, preventive maintenance, and readiness for production use.
- Promote and enforce a safe working environment: ensure adherence to all safety policies, proper use of PPE, ergonomic work practices, and immediate reporting and investigation of incidents or near-misses.
- Champion safety culture across the production floor; participate in safety audits and lead corrective actions for identified hazards.
- Support production scaling activities as the company grows, including line balancing, staffing ramp plans, and facility layout optimization.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and customer-specific quality expectations, particularly in regulated or high-reliability environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
- 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing production teams.
- Demonstrated experience managing in a regulated manufacturing environment (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or equivalent quality management systems required).
- Experience with cable assembly, electromechanical assembly, or electronics manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of implementing Lean, 5S, or Kaizen initiatives with measurable results.
- Experience with Sage ERP or similar enterprise resource planning systems is strongly preferred.
- Background in medical device manufacturing a plus.

- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communicator across all levels of the organization — from assembly technicians to senior leadership.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable with production data analysis and reporting.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications.
- Strong working knowledge of workmanship standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620) and quality management principles.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and a track record of fostering safe working environments.
- Self-motivated with a growth mindset and a willingness to work in new technology domains.
