PRODUCTION LINE MECHANIC

About the role

The position exists to ensure readiness and proper functioning of machines in the production line (filter making, making/packing, and auxiliary equipment), meeting production requirements, JTI quality, and other standards at the lowest possible cost. The Mechanic is responsible for performing regular maintenance checks and repairs to ensure smooth execution of the production process. During line operation, supports operators in execution of production in line with operation instructions and safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Qualified machine maintenance and repair: Ensure proper functioning of machines in filter production, cigarette production, and packaging. Carry out machine set-up, conversions, adjustments, maintenance, and required repair work, including removal of mechanical line defects to reach maximum line efficiency. Perform continuous monitoring and inspection of all mechanical machine functions, as well as essential parameter regulations and measurements.
• Spare parts management: Perform regular inspection and preventive maintenance of machines and production systems according to JTI standards. Assess spare parts condition and order spare parts in the SAP system in line with spare parts management rules. Plan and request spare parts in optimal time and quantities (order, receipt, and timely installation of spare parts on the production lines).
• Troubleshooting activities: Execute troubleshooting activities to assure quality and efficiency of production during assigned shifts. Constantly monitor line operation by analyzing stoppage and breakdown data. Perform corrective and preventive activities according to line needs. Share information with other mechanics and electrician technicians working in subsequent shifts and utilize collected knowledge for proper planning of shift and machine maintenance.
• Ensuring quality and continuous improvement: Control machinery operation correctness and production process performance to ensure proper product quality and adherence to JTI's quality standards. Develop suggestions to improve the functioning of existing equipment and implement suggestions from other employees. Work on Continuous Improvement (CI) of processes within Make Pack, as well as machines and systems used in production of semi-finished and finished products as per JTI standards. Ensure production area cleanliness, compliance with 5S3R standards, and waste segregation. Maintain completeness and condition of own working tools. Support and play an active role in companywide CI initiatives such as IWS - Integrated Work System.
• Safety: Adhere to operational, legal, and official regulations on occupational safety and accident prevention. Understand health and safety aspects of own work, identify potential hazards, and maintain a healthy and safe workplace. Demonstrate safe behavior, report incidents and near misses to the supervisor, and report identified unsafe conditions and behaviors, eliminating them within own authority. Pass information on possible safety-related issues during shift handover; monitor activities of external suppliers/supports in terms of safety.
• Other: Perform the duties of the operator on an ad-hoc basis. Manage various tasks as they arise and upon manager’s request.

Requirements

• Secondary education.
• Completion of technical/mechanical apprenticeship or similar.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in a production environment in a similar role.
• Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Basic PC skills (MS Office applications).
