Coordinates the activities of assigned team members on matters related to production, including quality and safety of food products, team member safety, housekeeping, adherence to production schedules, line efficiencies, and communications with production leaders.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the entire work area in a neat, safe, and orderly fashion using Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- Complies with all Company and Plant policies and procedures, including conformance to the facilities’ GMP program (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Ensures all OSHA guidelines are followed and reports any unsafe conditions to leadership immediately.
- Validates the use of the Plants’ lockout tagout procedures, job rotation program, etc. as needed.
- Promotes a positive and safe work environment.
- Adheres to schedule by following outlined schedule week to week, including reacting to schedule changes for flavor/pack type changeovers.
- Monitors case attainment to react appropriately when falling behind or ahead of schedule.
- Ensures packaging standards are met, including film, carton, case, code date, packaging integrity, and quality checks.
- Performs equipment set-up to centerline settings (e.g., wrappers, carton closers, carton formers, jet printers).
- Handles start-up, changeover, and shutdown duties for packing equipment at the beginning, middle, and end of each shift.
- Communicates, trains, coaches, and motivates team members.
- Fills in as necessary due to callouts, vacation, PTO, and other absences.
- Passes down training information, processes, procedures, company values, and other notifications to new hires and existing personnel.
- Loads, removes, and/or offloads materials and products into machines and equipment using hand tools and moving devices.
- Communicates with supervisors, peers, and team members via telephone, written form, email, or in person.
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships.
- Identifies information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
- Assists in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Creates daily reports regarding staffing, production numbers, scrapped material, and encountered issues throughout the shift.
- Develops, maintains, and communicates visual key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity, quality, safety, sanitation, and housekeeping.
- Conducts daily post-op meetings for employees covering prior days’ performance and current days’ requirements.
- Performs other responsibilities as communicated by the supervisor.
Schedule
2nd shift: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed. Shift differential of $1.50/hour applies to eligible shifts.
