About the role
The Production Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing the performance of the shift, maintaining process control, executing daily production plans, and ensuring operators adhere to safety, quality, and operational standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform essential job responsibilities of the Machine Operator position, including completing Operator PM's, monitoring FMS, and participating in changeovers.
- Address or communicate mechanical issues to supervision, correct or initiate corrections on safety concerns, and follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
- Document and monitor processes and operator logs to ensure accuracy and identify necessary follow-ups.
- Maintain product quality standards, monitor Real SPC, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Work closely with supervisors and managers to identify and meet training needs, and assist in training.
- Communicate with operators, assist in problem-solving, and act as a resource.
- Monitor employee behavior regarding work instructions, process control plans, and operator responsibilities, correcting or reinforcing behavior as appropriate.
- Monitor employee behavior in safety, housekeeping, and GMP guidelines, providing reinforcement on corrective behavior and reporting significant non-compliance to management.
- Provide input to supervisors and managers on employee performance.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate daily staffing and break relief.
- Communicate with Shift Supervisor as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with one to three years experience as a group leader, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Functional computer skills, including experience with equipment touch screens, e-mail, SAP, Word, and Excel (desirable).
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic math functions.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented.
- Ability to work overtime when necessary.
