Production Lead

About the Role

Shift schedule:

• June–September: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM, 4 days a week (10-hour shifts)
• September–June: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, 5 days a week (8-hour shifts)

Race Winning Brands (RWB) is the leading manufacturer of racing and high-performance parts sold to automotive and powersports markets. RWB is the preferred source for high-end pistons, engine blocks, cylinder heads, intake manifolds, connecting rods, crankshafts, clutches, transmissions, springs, and other engine and drivetrain-related performance components.

This role provides daily leadership to the hourly production workforce to achieve targeted output levels in accordance with all safety guidelines, quality standards, and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure shop personnel work in accordance with all company guidelines and safety protocols.
• Lead and direct the shop workforce to achieve daily output targets and meet shipment commitments for both external and internal customers.
• Reallocate shop workforce to support daily commitments and address absences or staffing shifts.
• Ensure employees perform within established time standards and develop plans to improve individual output and performance.
• Monitor and ensure the quality of each employee’s work, developing methods to eliminate defects or rejections.
• Direct employees in operator maintenance activities and general housekeeping.
• Make recommendations to the Production Supervisor on employee performance and job reviews.
• Recommend staffing changes based on shop load and workforce shifts.
• Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training new shop employees as needed.
• Ensure the factory and facilities are clean and maintained according to company guidelines.
• Promote and administer cross-training to ensure multiple individuals can perform every duty within the factory.
• Use motivational techniques to ensure shop personnel feel valued and integral to the company’s success.
• Provide input on design for manufacturability for new designs and manufacturing improvement projects.
• Lead by example by following all company guidelines and policies.
• Perform additional duties and assignments as required.

Requirements

• Significant knowledge of MIG and TIG welding practices and methodologies; formal welding certification preferred.
• Prior experience as a group lead or supervisor is a plus.
• Strong experience in manufacturing processes that achieve high standards of quality and workmanship.
• First-hand knowledge of working in a LEAN environment and developing a culture of continuous improvement.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands

• Travel around the shop and visit all established workstations.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documentation.
• Frequent computer use.
• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other materials.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs individually.
• Lifting, bending, pulling, and climbing required.
• Ability to visually identify defects in incoming materials and use inspection tools and equipment.
