About the role

Responsible for machine operation and crew in a light industrial setting. Must manage machine team to ensure proper and safe operation of assigned equipment. Responsible for quality, output, and meeting production goals. Additionally, fulfills the job duties of a Production Technician 1 and 2 as required.

Responsibilities

  • Production (40%):
    • Monitors performance of machine and personnel.
    • Ensures that goals are being met and issues are communicated to Supervisor and/or Production Technician 3 Lead.
    • Completes all work assignments during production.
    • Checking in material, Pocket set-ups, move material offline that is no longer needed, and other assignments as necessary.
    • Applies advanced troubleshooting skills and performs basic maintenance on assigned machines that improve quality and performance.
    • Assists crew members when needed.
  • Crew Leadership/Training (30%):
    • Organizes crew activities and delegates assignments.
    • Performs assigned duties.
    • Trains and develops all crew members.
  • Quality and Waste (15%):
    • Monitors product quality for correctness and report when errors occur.
    • Monitors print and bundle quality. Makes adjustments as necessary to correct quality issues.
    • Monitors product waste and takes steps to reduce or eliminate spoilage and doubles.
  • Communication/Record Keeping (15%):
    • Maintains accurate record keeping (e.g., safety audits, packages per hour, labor hours per thousand, and other logs or forms).
    • Communicates personnel issues to the Supervisor or Production Technician 3 Lead.
    • Informs other Operators/Supervisors of pertinent information and communicates to other shifts as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Basic computer experience.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrates ability to line lead or crew lead for one (1) machine.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment (varying upon equipment).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator (share equipment knowledge, quality, and safety concerns).
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine problems.
  • Mathematical skills and advanced skills in production reports.
  • Basic computer skills; technical skills may vary based on the equipment.
  • Ability and knowledge to operate a pallet jack.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of machine and manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language (preferred).
  • Ability to work overtime, beyond regular schedule, to complete work assignments as required.

Skills

  • Lead, coach, and maintain open communication with other production team members.
  • Participate in Team Business Meetings.
  • Work prioritization to meet production commitments and goals.
  • Machine staffing assignments.
  • Machine processing speed.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may carry up to 15 lbs., push and pull up to 40 lbs., twist, stand, walk, reach, and grip/grasp throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift up to 15 lbs., and squat and kneel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne dust, paper particles, and industrial lift trucks.
  • Work environments that exceed OSHA's standard on noise levels require associates to wear hearing protection.

Pay

$19.00/hour + $1.25/hour shift differential. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, total compensation may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.

Schedule

8:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Primary work days are Thursday-Sunday. Schedule varies depending on workload each week.
