Production Lead - 2nd shift
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Lead performs a variety of routine metal fabrication related duties in support of the parts production process. This position also serves as a lead, providing direction to other production shop peers. This position is responsible for controlling the flow of work in the shop by managing various shop personnel.
This position is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints to instruct shop employees in correct fabrication of product and managing employee timecards and ensuring employees work efficiently. As a Production Shop Lead, this position will work in coordination with Shift Supervisors and other senior management to ensure that the customer product is completed to the specifications of each job and meets the outlined requirements.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED, plus a minimum of 5 years’ fabrication experience
- 1 years’ experience in shop employee management preferred
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
Must be able to work as a member of a team
Overhead & Jib crane experience is required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook)

Responsibilities
- Maintains good attendance & punctuality
- Collaborates with workers and partner with managers to solve work-related problems
- Weekly time management approvals and submission to management in ERP system
- Manages employees by monitoring attendance, work practices and general duties
- Ensures Quality Control is met on each job
- Ensures all employees follow MICA Steelworks Safety Programs/Policies
- Ensures production schedule is met
- Interviews department candidates
- Informs designated employees, managers or departments of problems encountered
- Addresses employee relations issues, such as work complaints or other employee concerns
- Creates and administers employee written warnings and submit to management
- Ensures work areas are kept clean and organized
Working Conditions
- Full time shop exposure
- Extreme temperatures (sometimes due to season)
- No travel requirements
- Perform work standing up for 8-10 hours per day and up to 6 days a week
- Good vision, hearing, smell and balance
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat or kneel regularly as well as climb stairs and ladders

Scheduled Hours
Monday - Friday with some occasional hours on Saturday 5:00 PM - 2:30 AM
