Production -Labor Pool

About the role

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Production-Labor Pool Associate for our Union City, CA location.

Responsibilities

• Train in departments best suited for applicant based on previous skill and/or interview with employee.
• Perform job responsibilities such as machine operator, equipment operator, line worker, shipping worker, and others.
• Enter the maintenance apprenticeship program.
• Fill in on production jobs when required within department, replacing absentees, vacations, etc.
• Serve as a relief worker to cover regular employees for work and lunch breaks.
• Perform good housekeeping in any work area assigned.
• Follow safe work practices and maintain a safety-first mindset.
• Complete all work as assigned by the supervisor to support production needs.

Essential Job Functions

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Climb steps and ladders.
• Bend and stoop repeatedly.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing more than 50 pounds.
• Manually roll pipe on rails.
• Complete clean-up tasks involving picking up, sweeping, and shoveling.
• Help remove production materials and all other debris in area.
• Position equipment back in proper place.
• Recognize defective equipment and appropriately report defects to leadership/supervisor.
• Work in both hot and cold environments.
• Practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.
