Principle Duties & Responsibilities
- Safe operation of combustion or electrical powered industrial lift trucks (hi-lo)
- Ascend or descend from the vehicle to adjust the forks, inspect the load to be moved and operate levers or other devices to complete the assigned tasks
- Drive in reverse when vision is blocked
- Inspect the vehicle for proper operating conditions, report deficiencies and operate the vehicle in a safe manner at all times
- Pass appropriate physical examination when required
- Satisfactorily pass a written and operating examination
- Have a valid Michigan Driver’s License
- Understand and be able to read an order sheet (pick sheet)
- Work in a fast-paced environment
- Know and understand FIFO; understand 7-point inspection process for C-TPAT
- Knowledge of loading weight onto trailer, including weight distribution, stack ability, organization of parts best suited for transit
- Knowledge of trailer alignment for wide rack loads; verify safety chocks are in place and operation of the dock plates
Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities / Education & Experience
- Previous Hilo driving experience preferred
- General education requirements: H.S. Diploma (including high school math and reading proficiency)
- Able to lift, twist, bend, squat, climb, stand and walk continuously in close, confined surroundings, as well as tolerate fumes and noise
- Able to work mandatory overtime as required 6-7 days per week
