About the Role

As a Production Helper on the 1st shift at our Madison, WI facility, you will assist press operators, slitting operators, and/or compounding operators with setup and operation to produce products that meet customer standards. You will follow the plant’s OHSE and Quality Systems to maintain a safe workplace and ensure quality output.

The pay rate for this role is $21 - $28 per hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup and operation of printing and slitting equipment to meet quality and productivity requirements.
  • Complete documentation accurately.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards for production equipment and surrounding areas.
  • Perform packing and material handling tasks as needed.
  • Work in the cleaning room and perform core cutting as required.
  • Help the site meet quality objectives and follow all company safety rules and procedures.
  • Work in the setup area and assist with training as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Move product within the plant using a forklift or other powered industrial vehicles.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Forklift and warehouse experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Good math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to maintain excellent quality products and pay attention to detail.
  • Proficiency navigating a computer.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Skills

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, and technical drawings. Ability to write routine reports and complete time cards and work orders. Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic, flammable, or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and extreme heat.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
