About the role
The Production Group Leader ensures that all production is finished on time, completely, and to specification so that all customers receive their orders in full within the standard stated lead times.
Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm, additional hours as needed.
Responsibilities
- Determines production schedule based on intra-departmental and customer requirements.
- Communicates needs to other production areas and planning department as required.
- Trains and holds team members accountable for closing out all production order router operations promptly.
- Ensures that all production orders are confirmed with accurate actual times and logged with wage group of team member who completed the work.
- Monitors production processes to ensure that actual production times meet or beat standard and provides training to team members to help them meet this goal.
- Performs interviews and selects candidates from a candidate pool developed by the Plant Manager.
- Documents machine setups, fixturing requirements, work instructions, and performs on-the-job training to all team members in the area of quality control expectations.
- Audits QC records to ensure that all inspections are completed per processes and SOPs.
- Ensures all WIP is marked with a part number and work order number or a traveler.
- Audits production order confirmations for accuracy.
- Works with Production Manager to plan and schedule improvement project implementation around production schedules and requirements.

Qualifications
- Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Certifications (CSCP, CPIM, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification, etc.) desired.
- Journeyman card or relevant industry certifications preferred, where applicable.
- 5+ years’ experience in the field.
- 4+ years’ supervisory experience.
- 4+ years’ of manufacturing shop experience.
- Experience using SAP or other ERP system preferred.
- Forklifts / Pallet Jack / Reach Truck experience desired.
Working Conditions
This position requires accessing all areas in the plant.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand or sit, and move about the facility.
