About the Role
The Production Copy Editor is an individual contributor responsible for copy editing, proofreading, editorial quality control, and style consistency for RFx responses and related proposal materials across the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies. This role supports Medicaid and other government-sponsored health program proposals by ensuring responses are clear, compliant, grammatically accurate, brand-aligned, and consistent with opportunity-specific style guides, solicitation requirements, internal standards, and AP style.
The Production Copy Editor partners closely with proposal managers, writers, production professionals, graphic designers, subject matter experts, and external consultants to improve readability and quality while preserving technical accuracy, commitments, and compliance-sensitive language. This role also maintains editorial resources, templates, and team site materials; resolves copy editing questions; supports final quality reviews; and contributes to continuous improvement of proposal editing standards, tools, and workflows in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Copy edit and proofread RFPs, RFIs, RFAs, attachments, addenda, presentations, web content, emails, and related proposal materials to improve grammar, punctuation, clarity, consistency, readability, and brand alignment while preserving technical accuracy and approved commitments.
- Review opportunity style guides, addenda, and RFP instructions against proposal content to ensure terminology, formatting, citations, acronyms, state-specific requirements, and evaluator-facing language are applied consistently across volumes and deliverables.
- Serve as a copy editing resource for proposal teams, resolving editing questions, identifying inconsistencies, advising on style and business writing conventions, and partnering with writers, production staff, SMEs, consultants, and leadership to meet fixed submission deadlines.
- Support final quality control activities by reviewing response sections, attachments, tables, callouts, graphics text, cross-references, and post-review edits for consistency, completeness, and readiness before print or electronic submission.
- Maintain internal team site documents, editorial tools, templates, checklists, style resources, and reusable guidance; monitor editing, proposal, healthcare, and AP style trends; and recommend improvements that increase consistency, efficiency, and quality across proposal deliverables.
- Educate internal developers, proposal writers, consultants, and business partners on style guide conventions, plain language, effective business writing principles, and common editorial quality issues identified during active pursuits and lessons learned.

- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
- 3 or more years of professional copy editing, proofreading, proposal editing, technical editing, communications, or related editorial experience in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience editing Medicaid, Medicare, government procurement, healthcare proposal, or other regulated business communications strongly preferred.
Skills
- Advanced copy editing and proofreading skills, including strong command of grammar, punctuation, syntax, usage, plain language, and editorial consistency.
- Experience applying AP style, corporate style guides, brand standards, solicitation-specific instructions, and state-provided requirements.

- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and large-document review tools, including track changes, comments, styles, templates, cross-references, and version control.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple simultaneous assignments, shifting priorities, fixed deadlines, and high-volume proposal review cycles.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with proposal managers, writers, production staff, graphic designers, SMEs, consultants, and leaders in a matrixed environment.
