Production Planner

Duties

• Reviews and distributes production, work, and shipment schedules
• Confers with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates
• Monitors inventory levels and solves production problems
• Maintains production item master setup, sets up daily production entries, and posts production entries
• Analyzes sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements
• Interfaces with manufacturing and purchasing staff on material status and production planning issues
• Conducts capacity analysis by specific work center
• Expedites and prioritizes work orders by coordinating and managing daily production schedule meetings
• Issues and tracks production orders, ensuring that required material is supplied to the production floor according to the production schedule
• Displays willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment; includes appropriate people in decision-making process; makes timely decisions
• Observes safety and security procedures; uses equipment and materials properly; reports potentially unsafe conditions
• Oversees cycle counts
• Analyzes labor on daily production reports
• Ensures company policies and procedures are reviewed often and notifies the Director of Manufacturing when such policies or procedures may need to be revised to increase work efficiency in the department

Requirements

• Education: Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience: Minimum 4 years of production planning in a manufacturing environment
• ERP systems experience and a willingness & capability to learn new computer software programs
• Experience with lean concepts and tools
• Strong analytical, administrative, and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of company personnel
• Must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with production managers
• Exceptional organizational skills required
