This position focuses on performing weigh-up or packaging duties within the production department, ensuring high-quality products at the lowest possible cost while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements.

7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on a 2-2-3 shift

Responsibilities
- Obtain correct documentation for each batch and ensure correct ingredients are delivered to the work area.
- Weigh out ingredients to meet recipe specifications and set up/start weigh-up or packaging machinery.
- Check all controls for adherence to operating and safety procedures; notify appropriate personnel of any issues.
- Process, batch off, screen, cut up, package, and/or skid material according to customer specifications.
- Support Production Operators with materials/functions to keep equipment operational.
- Perform machine cleaning and maintain required paperwork/documents.
- Follow all safety and work rules, maintaining departmental housekeeping standards.
Department-Specific Duties
FRP
- Understand and acknowledge work orders and customer specifications.
- Retrieve, inspect, prep, and load/unload creel materials.
- Doff and assist other operators; splice yarns.
- Perform line setup, startup, and shutdown procedures; adjust equipment settings.
- Monitor processes, document adjustments, and use the ERP system efficiently.
- Unload finished materials, perform first-line inspections, and provide samples to QA.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Extrusion
- Understand and acknowledge work orders and customer specifications.
- Perform line setup, including tool changes and adjustments.
- Retrieve materials and use proper PPE in Hot Zones.
- Use the ERP system efficiently; perform doffs and assist other operators.
- Collect samples, record data, and provide samples to QA.
- Inspect finished goods before pack out; use a forklift for shipping.
- Inspect, prep, and load materials on payoff/take-up systems.
- Adjust equipment settings, monitor processes, and document adjustments.
- Unload finished materials and perform first-line inspections.
Coating
- Understand and acknowledge work orders and customer specifications.
- Mix resin for line use; perform line setup, startup, and shutdown procedures.
- Perform doffs, assist other operators, and splice yarn.
- Use a forklift to retrieve materials; adjust equipment settings.
- Monitor processes, pack out finished materials, and provide samples to QA.
- Use the ERP system for pack out and label creation.
Winding
- Understand and acknowledge work orders and customer specifications.
- Perform mechanical changes to winder gears; inspect, prep, and load/unload materials.
- Monitor processes, make adjustments, and perform yarn splicing.
- Conduct quality checks using a tensile tester.
- Unload finished materials, perform quality inspections, and pack out.
- Use the ERP system, weigh finished goods, and prepare boxes for shipment.
Respool
- Correct non-conforming reels of FRP (e.g., sanding trash or scraping parts of the reel).
- Load/unload payoffs and take-ups; achieve a leveled traverse.
- Use forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials.
- Inspect and weigh reels before use; perform quality inspections.
- Report scrap and prepare reels for shipment.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent training/experience.
- Work experience in an industrial operations environment (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with units like weight, volume, and distance.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English.
- Competency in computer/PC software (email, internet, MS Office).
- Manual dexterity for hand tools; ability to drive a forklift.
- Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of industrial/manufacturing experience (preferred extrusion experience).
- Sets up and starts machines, adhering to procedures and safety policies.
- Demonstrates teamwork and troubleshoots equipment/processing issues.
- Examines materials for conformance to standards; operates machinery per procedures.
- Takes samples to the lab for evaluations; documents work (logs, reports, procedures).
- Participates in training and continual improvement processes.
- Supports the company’s vision, mission, and guiding principles.
- Follows HS&E, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
Skills
- Read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English.
