About the role
As a Production Level I Associate, you will participate as a member of a team to accomplish shared goals and objectives in a food manufacturing environment. This role involves operating processing equipment, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively in a group or team environment about safety and product quality.
- Report all workplace safety concerns to appropriate personnel and take corrective action when needed.
- Promote a culture of safety and efficiency by adhering to plant safety and work rules.
- Ensure fellow associates are aware of and in compliance with all safety rules.
- Approach safety with a positive attitude and watch out for the wellbeing of others.
- Support the plant’s 6S initiative by keeping supplies and equipment organized.
- Palletize finished cases per specifications, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and sealing.
- Push and pull large amounts of weight using an electric pallet jack or hand pallet jack.
- Perform similar or associated duties as assigned by the Shift Lead.
- Supply packaging materials as needed and maintain a safe and clean work environment according to GMP and Safety Guidelines.
- Ensure product meets all Quality and GMP standards.
- Operate processing and mixing equipment according to established SOPs.
- Portion and scale ingredients, verify process control points, and ensure product quality.
- Manage work in process and assist Quality Assurance in obtaining product samples.
- Ensure products meet specifications (e.g., weights, temperature) set by Quality Assurance.
- Monitor safety devices, equipment, and hazardous conditions, maintaining general housekeeping.
- Make adjustments to equipment to ensure quality and consistent weights.
- Complete production reports as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic math and computer skills, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- One year of experience in a food processing, manufacturing, or industrial environment is a plus.
- Ability to listen, follow instructions, and adhere to work routines from superiors.
- Knowledge of and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and complete reports/forms.
- Ability to work around flour, cinnamon, and other bakery ingredients as part of daily activities.
- Frequent standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
- Ability to work in both hot and cold environments, as well as high-noise areas (hearing protection provided).
- Ability to work with potentially hazardous chemicals and equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be required to work various shifts.
