Production Associate (Hand Lamination)
About the role
Produce composite laminates to be used in the production of advanced aerospace composite laminate to be used in sails, medical devices, outdoor applications, etc. This position will set up, operate, adjust and clean all equipment required to produce CT products in accordance to work instructions and standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Show behavior in line with the SHE and Security risks and agreed controls, including being compliant to Avient requirements, rules, and procedures.
- Absorbs and applies safety procedures.
- Set up, operate, adjust and clean all equipment required to produce CT products in accordance to work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining quality product.
- Takes samples and determines properties of the produced intermediate and finished products.
- Prepares samples for offline quality checks.
- Supply and maintain inventory of components/supplies as needed.
- Correct process conditions with given limits, to maintain desired quality.
- Communicate any issue related to the product to Shift Lead/Shift Supervisor.
- Performs minor preventative maintenance.
- Inspects and pack finished product.
- Performs in-process quality checks as required.
- Demonstrates a commitment to quality by ensuring all product documentation is accurate and complete.
- Responsible for compliance with relevant laws, regulatory requirements, recipes, SOP’s, and other related documentation and activities.
- Maintains records of the used raw materials and the produced products in the appropriate computer system.
- Enters data about components, intermediate and finished products into the tracing and tracking system.
- Maintain accurate production related records.
- Moves, measures, maintains inventory and stores raw, intermediate and finished products.
- Receives, stores, handles and delivers raw materials and finished products as required or directed.
- Utilizes standard material handling equipment.
- Operates rider and/or walk for truck and overhead crane.
- Utilizes good judgment in making critical decisions on product quality, equipment functionality, safety and other related activities.
- Identifies problems related to equipment, work orders, log books, set-ups and other related activities and recommends ways to solve.
- Makes suggestions regarding product quality, safety precautions, and work improvements.
- Informs Lead of any problems that may impair the quality of the CT product, packaging components, work efficiency and/or safety.
- Participates in Near Miss investigations, setting up RCA and JSA.
- Participates in SHE, Quality or other special task teams if business requires.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
- High school diploma and at least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a fibers production, environment and/or equivalent military technical experience or training.
- Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures.
- Knowledge of changeovers/cleaning/set-up, work instructions.
- Ability to perform mathematical computation; problem solving.
- Problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Organize, schedule and follow-up on activities.
- Creativity and initiative.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English language.
- Basic computer skills (Work and Access).
- Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.
- Mechanical skills & knowledge including equipment assembly.
- Ability to identify problems and utilize good decision-making skills to resolve.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to constantly produce at established production rates.
- Attention to detail, alertness, skill in detecting and identify machine or process problems.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to read gauges, dials, meters and set controllers; ability to coordinate hand-arm manipulation.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle up to 100 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
