About the role

Base pay: $16.00 per hour. 1st shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM. Benefits start on day one. Weekly pay.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect extruded product for consistent appearance and length according to defined standards
  • Ensure product consistency and standards, including proper counts, packing patterns, packing enclosures, carton construction, and labels
  • Pack finished product into cartons and place cartons on finished product skids
  • Maintain all required paperwork
  • Conduct recurrent tests/inspections of products’ functional features (nail slot depth, weepholes, butt end channel locks, etc.)
  • Notify appropriate personnel (Extrusion Associate 3s and 4s, Manufacturing Shift Supervisor) of product defects
  • Assemble cartons for packaging
  • Ensure proper packing patterns, product counts, and package enclosures
  • Square, glue, seal, and label packed cartons
  • Transfer cartons to finished product skid
  • Discard unacceptable panels in Scrap Rack
  • Identify and assist with product jams in the production line
  • Assist with line shutdowns, color changes, and product fixture changes
  • Communicate with previous and following shifts about product quality, problems, and work-in-progress status
  • Perform housekeeping duties, such as cleaning knock-out build-up in MRF cutter
  • Complete all line packaging-related paperwork accurately and legibly
  • Notify Extrusion Associate 3 or 4 of colored light alarm from Ink Jet Printer
  • Punch time clock before and after shift
  • Observe health and safety practices when handling materials
  • Maintain supplies at workstation
  • Communicate with Material Handler(s) to move full warehouse racks
  • Assist with training temporaries and new hires in Extrusion Associate 1 positions
  • Float to relieve other Extrusion Associate 1s for breaks
  • Attend weekly shift meetings and monthly All Hands Forum, if required
  • Actively participate in all plant safety programs
  • Notify Supervisor if proper tools are not furnished
  • Assist with production equipment maintenance

Requirements

  • Previous production/manufacturing experience highly preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math skills
  • Common sense, positive attitude, and excellent attendance record
  • Quality and safety conscious; team player
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually, above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Excellent manual dexterity and ability to concentrate for sustained periods
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact with people
  • Extensive standing, frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting, and walking
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled facility
  • Required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses, and other personal protective equipment
  • Must immediately report unsafe working conditions
  • Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations
  • Safety responsibilities are an integral part of performance appraisal
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
