Responsibilities

• Conduct heavy research and telephone reporting, including pre‑interviews.
• Coordinate logistics for field production.
• Locate and retrieve the best video and elements from CNN systems and third‑party sources.
• Handle all show transcriptions.
• Organize and maintain assets via the Grid, SharePoint, etc.
• Populate scripts with appropriate asset suggestions and assist editors throughout the project.
• Collaborate with rights and clearances, affiliate desk, and assignment desks to ensure proper acquisition, usage, and crediting of video.
• Pitch ideas and story concepts.
• Support weekly production of the taped show, including control‑room duties, post‑production, and delivery.
• Assist in the production of breaking‑news specials, working long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• One or more years of experience in TV, news, or digital production (long‑form documentary experience preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with databases such as MediaSource, MIRA, and the CNN Library.
• Proficiency with archive sources such as Getty Images and the Associated Press.
• Strong research skills.
• Strong initiative, commitment, and interpersonal skills.
• Team‑oriented, able to take direction from producers and editors, meet deadlines, and remain calm under high‑pressure situations, including breaking news.
• Flexibility to work an extended schedule as news cycles and deadlines require.

Pay

Base salary range: $43,112.00 – $80,065.00 per year (actual compensation varies based on market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and performance). Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards.
