About the role
The Production Assistant supports the execution of technical and logistical elements for School of Music events, concerts, rehearsals, and classes. This role provides hands-on event support, resource management, and team coordination, working closely with SOM faculty and staff to ensure excellence in all production activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical and logistical support for all SOM events (events, concerts, rehearsals, and classes) as requested.
- Aid with stage and classroom setup/teardown, equipment operation, and AV preparation as needed.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate complex problems to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain production documents (event checklists, equipment logs, maintenance schedules) as directed.
- Aid in managing platform access and updates (e.g., Planning Center Online, Multitracks.com, ProPresenter, etc.).
- Create media content (slides, lyrics, basic video edits) for rehearsals, recitals, and practice sessions.
- Operate recording equipment for rehearsals, recitals, and practice sessions.
- Aid in preparing equipment and media for traveling ministry teams.
- Support and coordinate LU vehicles and trailers usage by SOM.
Qualifications and Credentials
- Four-year college degree, with a concentration in Communications, Audio Engineering, Recording, or other related field.
- One to three years of experience in audio/video/lighting production in supporting live events where setup, operation, and teardown of audio/video/lighting systems are required (especially concerts or large events with single/multiple bands, orchestras, or speeches).
- Working knowledge of audio console and speaker systems, video switchers, LED walls, or lighting consoles.
- Strong organizational skills.
