Production Assistant

About the Role

Viking Masek Packaging Technologies provides innovative packaging automation for global manufacturers of food, beverage, health, medical, and consumer goods. The Production Assistant will support daily operations in our facility, assisting with various tasks, including preparing equipment for shipment, assembling parts orders, and performing custodial duties to maintain a clean workspace.

Responsibilities

The Production Associate will help the receiving department with incoming equipment and parts, assist the stockroom with sorting and inventory management, and ensure timely preparation of spare parts orders for shipment. Additionally, responsibilities include picking up and delivering parts to local vendors as needed.

• Equipment Preparation & Shipping Efficiency: Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, inspected, and packaged before shipment.
• Forklift & Safety Compliance: Conduct and document daily forklift safety checks and follow all safety procedures while operating machinery and handling materials.
• Machine Assembly Assistance: Support technicians in machine sub-assemblies as required and follow assembly guidelines to ensure quality standards are met.
• Vendor & Logistics Support: Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of parts at local vendors and maintain accurate records of all transactions and deliveries.
• Facility and Custodial Support: Keep the shop, production floors, and workspaces clean and organized, and perform daily custodial duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver's license
• Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with common applications
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment
• Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with tools
• Ability to handle materials safely and follow safety protocols
• Understanding of inventory management and quality control processes
• Willingness to assist with machine operation as needed
• Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
• Effective problem-solving skills and adaptability
• Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills for collaborating with machine operators and supervisors

Skills

• Forklift Operator Certification preferred (training provided)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
