Core Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the Hot Rolling Mill Operations Shift Schedule as instructed to support the planned rolling schedule.
  • Maintain all required documents and keep the department personnel “Audit Ready”. Interact directly with Audit and Quality personnel to ensure all policies are followed.
  • Understand and be able to identify Safety Hazards and 5S Improvements and be able to communicate these in a clear manner with appropriate necessary actions.
  • Inspect the mill and organize cross department teams for general housekeeping and upkeep of the mill.
  • Independently schedule and supervise Industrial Cleaning Contractors directly and create weekly status reports of these activities and future requirements.
  • Monitor and coordinate annual trainings for all personnel IE LOTO, fire safety, confined space, etc.
  • Meet weekly with the Maintenance Department to ensure all necessary support is scheduled and tasks are assigned for mill down days.
  • Report daily to the Operations Manager any issues, problems, or findings that need escalated or require immediate attention.

Job Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • General computer knowledge is required for data entry, reporting, and word processing.
  • Knowledge of Management of Change process is required.
  • General SAP knowledge is required.
  • Experience with audit preparation and record keeping requirements is required.
  • Certification or experience in lean manufacturing, materials managements, six sigma, and safety and environment are desired.
  • Must have the ability to plan operational requirements thoughtfully and safely.
  • Ability to critically think and be able to make good judgment calls quickly.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize and explain complex data in a clear manner.
  • High flexibility and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisors, coworkers, and management across all departments.
  • Required to work assigned schedule, be on time and expected to work overtime when needed. Ability to work rotating shifts.
