Responsibilities
- Design new interfaces from scratch for the Edgevanta platform — data-dense views, workflows, and tools used daily by civil construction estimators.
- Work directly with engineers to translate product requirements into clear, well-structured UI.
- Help establish and document design standards and best practices that the engineering team can apply consistently.
- Contribute to building a shared visual language and component references that keep the product coherent as it grows.
- Give structured design feedback on engineering deliverables — not to gatekeep, but to elevate.
- Collaborate with the founder and principal engineer on product direction and UX decisions.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of proven experience designing complex digital products, with a portfolio that demonstrates clarity, structure, and strong visual judgment.
- Experience designing for B2B or enterprise tools — you understand that utility and clarity matter more than aesthetics alone.
- Strong visual sense and sharp attention to detail — you can define what good looks like and articulate why.
- Comfortable working without a design spec handed to you — you create the spec.
- Clear, direct communication — you can explain design decisions to engineers and non-designers without losing them.
- You work well in small, fast-moving teams where ownership is high and process is lean.
- You're genuinely curious and get excited about the craft — someone who finds real satisfaction in designing interfaces that are both functional and beautiful, and who cares about the details even when no one is checking.
- Experience with data-dense UIs: tables, dashboards, filtering systems.
- Accessibility — you design interfaces that are fully operable from the keyboard and inclusive by default.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with frontend concepts — component structure, spacing systems, responsive behavior — enough to design with implementation in mind.
- Exposure to React component libraries such as Radix UI or shadcn/ui.
- CSS.
- TailwindCSS.
