Product Test Technician
About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Product Test Technician III to support the testing, integration, troubleshooting, and validation of next-generation hardware systems. You will work with a diverse range of electromechanical products, including sensors, fluid handling systems, pump assemblies, robotics hardware, vision systems, and custom test equipment. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at solving complex technical problems, and can operate effectively with limited documentation while collaborating closely with engineers to launch new products.
Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, operate, and troubleshoot electromechanical test systems and hardware.
- Support testing and validation of new products, prototypes, sensors, pumps, and automation equipment.
- Diagnose issues within fluid handling systems, pumps, motors, controls, and mechanical assemblies.
- Assemble, modify, and maintain test rigs, fixtures, and test infrastructure.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for system failures.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) efforts by identifying issues and improving system performance.
- Use custom software tools to execute tests, collect data, and document results.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering teams to support product development and testing initiatives.
- Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance when needed.
- Maintain a safe and organized laboratory and testing environment.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Test Technician, Engineering Technician, Mechatronics Technician, Robotics Technician, Automation Technician, or similar technical role.
- Strong troubleshooting experience involving mechanical, electrical, and fluid handling systems.
- Experience assembling, repairing, and maintaining complex electromechanical equipment.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems with minimal direction.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where documentation and processes may be evolving.
- Experience supporting engineers within R&D, testing, prototype, or product development environments.
- Strong computer and digital troubleshooting skills with the ability to learn proprietary software applications.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Robotics or automation equipment experience.
- PLC troubleshooting experience on any platform.
- Experience with pumps, fluid handling systems, peristaltic pumps, pneumatic systems, or process equipment.
- 3D printing experience.
- Experience in new product introduction (NPI) environments.
- Semiconductor, clean room, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, industrial automation, or engineering development experience.
- Prior experience mentoring junior technicians.
- Fabrication or general shop experience.
Work Environment
This position requires onsite work from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The work environment is dynamic and requires adaptability to changing processes and documentation. The role involves maintaining a safe and organized laboratory and testing environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
