About the role

The Product Technician/Machinist assists assigned function Engineers in the design, development, and test of components, machinery, and/or products. Under supervision, may design tests to support engineering efforts and provide technical assistance in design, layout, and detail. This role is based in Saline, MI and is onsite daily.

Responsibilities

• Apply manufacturing knowledge to machining and programming products from engineering drawings.
• Perform basic design work using CAD (e.g., fixturing).
• Work independently to prioritize and accomplish daily objectives.
• Program directly on machines and/or utilize CAM software.
• Ensure maximum production levels through proper programming, setup, and operation of machinery and equipment.
• Assist and support Engineering in build and design stages.
• Design and conduct various tests to support engineering efforts.
• May establish manufacturing methods and costs for design engineering.
• May construct testing equipment or experimental models.
• Follow departmental procedures and maintain proper records in accordance with organizational requirements.
• Train lesser-experienced technicians and operatives.
• Maintain an intermediate-level understanding of procedures, techniques, and equipment used.
• Keep work area clean and organized to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Demonstrate positive relations and teamwork as established in the IMI Way and Leadership Blueprint.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree, technical training, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in manual and CNC precision machining.
• 3+ years of prototype machining experience.
• Knowledge of MS Office; MS Project knowledge is preferred.
• CAD/CAM and CAD experience.
• Machine control programming knowledge.

Pay

Pay range: $85,000 – $95,000. Individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements and is aligned with market location. May be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
