About the Role

We are seeking an industry-experienced technical specialist and in-house product trainer. This is a full-time opportunity for a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment. An ideal candidate should be experienced in installation and service of complex HVAC systems, customer service-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Training experience is preferred. The position requires professionalism in appearance and excellent verbal and written communication with manufacturers, the sales team, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up procedures according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Provide technical expertise to sales staff and assist in communicating best practices and installation procedures to our customers as they relate to VRF and other technical products.
  • Develop relationships and contacts with technical resources within our manufacturers to accurately direct and assist in full factory support to all TAS employees and customers.
  • Provide technical support and product expertise to contractors through the entire installation process of VRF systems and other technical products.
  • Obtain all necessary certifications required by manufacturers to provide high-level technical support and factory-certified in-house training.
  • Perform site inspections and provide written reports necessary to ensure compliance with VRF and other manufacturers' installation procedures and warranty requirements.
  • Communicate any installation deficiencies revealed during a site inspection in a timely manner to both the contractor and TAS sales team.
  • Develop in-house policies and procedures to ensure uniform standards when supporting VRF installation across all TAS sales teams.
  • Responsible for final approval of all extended warranties on VRF product and other products designated by the sales manager.
  • Provide regular VRF training necessary to ensure all installing contractors meet the VRF manufacturers' certification requirements.
  • Expand existing product training to include other product lines, including continuing education credits for TAS clients.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and product expertise to help coordinate VRF start-up and warranty work between TAS sales and service teams.
  • Utilize existing relationships and technical knowledge to assist the sales team in business development to expand TAS sales opportunities.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated individual with strong time management skills.
  • Self-confident individual known to take initiative.
  • Comfortable speaking in a public setting as a class instructor.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment submittal data and Operations and Maintenance manuals.
  • Graduate from a recognized engineering or construction management program is an asset.
  • Technical degree or equivalent job-related experience.
  • Vocational school or prior experience in HVAC, construction, or a similar industry is a plus.
  • HVAC systems knowledge, fundamentals of DX systems, and knowledge of Direct Digital Controls.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft software and working proficiency with issued electronics (e.g., laptop, smartphone, iPad).
  • Excellent articulation, verbal, and written communication skills along with an empathic interaction style.
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties.

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Will be required to work in an office environment and frequently in the field.

  • Regularly required to use hands to operate a computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
