Product Systems Buyer

About the role

The Buyer - Global Product Support (GPS) will define, champion, and lead the procurement strategy for aftermarket parts and value add kits (VAK), known as Global Product Support (GPS). This role develops an in-depth knowledge of the aftermarket and VAK ordering process, customers' needs and expectations, and aligns them with current market conditions as well as supplier sourcing and pricing strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop a sourcing strategy specific to the needs of aftermarket and VAK.
• Serve as a liaison between the aftermarket team, value-added kit team, and procurement group to agree on vendor base, pricing, and lead times.
• Solicit quotations that meet agreed-upon turnaround needs of aftermarket and VAK.
• Drive reductions in lead time and cost to help increase marketability, grow margins, and reduce landed cost.
• Manage MRP demand system, place orders, and expedite to meet customer demands.
• Implement stocking programs that align with overall demand and aftermarket strategies.

Occasional Responsibilities

• Provide market insights on pricing trends (CPI).
• Lead the qualification process for new suppliers.
• Participate in negotiations with suppliers regarding total cost, legal requirements, and contract terms and conditions.
• Coordinate with international counterparts to identify low-cost country sourcing strategies and assist with quoting and negotiation.

Requirements

• An associate's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least five years of experience in a manufacturing organization.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with sales, manufacturing staff, suppliers, and customer personnel.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally, inspire others, and drive and implement change.
• An acumen for developing presentations and speaking to leadership.
• Ability to collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop solutions.
