Typical Duties
- Develop sustainment artifacts within a Product Support environment in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition frameworks for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Sustain deployed Range Systems from project initiation through closure.
- Partner with internal and external customers to define and implement an integrated product support plan (maintenance, sparing analysis, level of repair, Technical Order implementation) to maximize operational capability and lifecycle sustainability.
- Work with subject matter experts to determine and implement SMR codes, Work Unit Codes, and SERD records.
- Develop and present Product Support Plans detailing the twelve required product support elements for Customer approval.
- Support Engineering and Project Management within an IPT environment, including spares testing and turnover to Supply.
- Cook up and manage multiple projects and complete assigned tasks without supervision.
- Provide technical guidance to junior personnel.
- Perform related duties, such as creating or sustaining Technical Orders.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field (preferred), or a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience, preferably in a sustaining or development engineering environment.
- Extensive knowledge of materials, components, assemblies, computer and peripheral hardware designs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional; familiarity with Adobe FrameMaker, Illustrator, or desktop publishing software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and resolve problems with limited supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel to remote sites (e.g., Pillar Point Air Force Station, Pt. Mugu).
- Flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or weekends as required.
- Strong organizational skills with emphasis on attention to detail.
- Proficiency with PLM tools (e.g., Windchill or equivalent).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance.
Pay & Other Compensation
The annual starting salary for this position is between $85,000–$110,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Salary determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement.
