Product Strategy Management
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the product lifecycle roadmap and overall strategy from inception to implementation, coordinating different discipline teams and stakeholders through quality gates approval. You will monitor and ensure specs, cost, time, quality, and profitability targets are met while maintaining competitiveness and legal compliance. The position also manages all aspects of product powertrain, electronic architecture, and technology features, including preparation for Quality Gates approvals.
Additional areas of responsibility include powertrain roadmap alignment (engines and transmissions), establishing consistency across all products, and overseeing current and future generations of key components such as electronic architecture, safety/ADAS/HMI/telematics.
Responsibilities
- Plan, monitor, and manage product planning from initiation through the quality gates process.
- Work with market data, surveys, and analysis to determine customer priorities and key selling points.
- Establish product performance targets based on voice of customer (VOC), competitor assessments, and future market trends.
- Align strategy and plans within Daimler Truck Specialty Vehicles (DTSV) and with DTNA partners for consistency and clarity.
- Ensure project results meet requirements for technical quality, reliability, schedule, and cost.
- Monitor performance and recommend schedule changes, cost adjustments, or resource additions.
- Identify market opportunities and associated new product strategies.
- Support strategic activities such as long-term volumes, pricing positioning, and specifications.
- Work with manufacturing facilities and departments to analyze existing structures, methods, systems, and workflows for streamlining and cost improvement.
- Develop new product value propositions and targeted feature sets.
- Prepare complexity optimization proposals for chassis/body options.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, engineering, business administration, or a related field OR 8 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in product strategy or product management.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to execute product development implementation.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to operate with minimal guidance.
- Business acumen to ensure decisions align with company goals.
- Customer- and user-centric focus aligned with market trends.
- Strong ability to lead and influence in a matrix cross-functional organization by collaborating with key stakeholders in sales, engineering, finance, and operations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and resilience.
- Results- and detail-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA.
- Automotive experience.
- Good technical/mechanical understanding of chassis, engines, bus, and RV systems.
- Experience in marketing.
Location
This position may be based in High Point, NC; Gaffney, SC; or Fort Mill, SC. Regardless of location, the selected candidate will be required to work onsite in High Point, NC, a minimum of two days per week. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Schedule
Hybrid (4 days per week in-office / 1 day remote).
Pay
Starting salary range of $104,000 - $133,000 USD, dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
