About the role

Roche Molecular Diagnostics provides integrated, high-performance analytical systems to optimize laboratory management from pre-analytical to post-analytical processes. We develop high-quality solutions for diagnostics laboratories—from analyzers and test reagents to workflow solutions. To maintain its leadership in technology and quality, Roche minimizes third-party products with more than 75 percent of its assay portfolio developed and manufactured in-house.

As a Product Specialist – Other Molecular Systems, you will lead the generation of sales for two distinct product lines: the MagNA Pure extraction portfolio and the LightCycler PRO. You will be assigned to a diverse group of clinical and research-lab accounts. This role involves contacting and visiting existing and prospective customers, including account expansion and acquiring new accounts. Additionally, you may assist in developing and implementing national sales campaigns and sales strategies for a targeted list of specialty accounts.

This is a field-based role spanning five Molecular Lab sales regions (Northeast, NYC/Philadelphia, Mid-Atlantic, South Central, and Southeast). The ideal candidate should live within 50 miles of a major metropolitan airport within the territory.

Responsibilities

  • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Provide expert-level knowledge of company products and services, including introducing new products
  • Work on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors and exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques
  • Network with key contacts outside your area of expertise
  • Assume an active leadership role in developing and implementing sales strategies to attain assigned sales objectives
  • Utilize strong product/market knowledge and sales experience to manage complex sales and resolve customer questions and concerns
  • Continuously build knowledge of current industry trends, competitive information, and industry/technical knowledge, sharing insights with colleagues
  • Retain, extend, and acquire customers through effective identification of opportunities and implementation of solutions, collaborating closely with field sales representatives
  • Track, manage, and grow sales of reagents and consumables for the assigned product portfolio
  • Establish and build strong client relationships to drive growth, profitability, and predictability
  • Communicate with other relevant Roche functions to ensure needed sales support and delivery of programs and products

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant sales or equivalent experience (e.g., enterprise software sales, consulting & services; ideally in a pre-sales or support position; technical lab sales)
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Hands-on experience with CRM software, Google Suite, and MS Office
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics
  • Strong negotiation skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 60%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including making impactful presentations, spreadsheets, and proposals
  • Relevant and proven complex sales experience in the diagnostics market (capital sales experience and experience in the research laboratory setting is a plus)

Pay

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indiana is $111,700.00 - $207,500.00 USD annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for incentive compensation.
